Just under a month ago, I went through something that was very sudden, unexpected, and upsetting. I don’t want to go into details, but I was fully prepared to spiral into crisis. And then... I didn’t. I reached out for support, and everyone gathered around me and held me up when I felt like I was drowning. They loved me, supported me, and were patient with my countless unanswered messages. And suddenly... I got through it. If you asked me six months ago if I could survive, let alone come out stronger, happier, and more confident than before, something like this, I would have laughed. No. I never would have thought I could. But here I am. And I like to think I’m the light that was at the end of the tunnel. Because the best surprise is just how strong you can be.

I tried to style my new haircut and got dressed up and did my makeup for therapy. Because sometimes, that’s exactly what self care looks like.

Yesterday I got to see, celebrate, and hug one of my very favorite people in the world. So grateful for the happy moments that light up the difficult times. ❤️

It’s world suicide prevention week. It took me a while to decide on what picture to use for this post, but I decided on this one, because this picture was taken about 2 weeks after I came back from medical leave. During that medical leave, I was self admitted to a psych ward due to suicidal thoughts. I spent two months in intensive therapy trying to better myself to return to normalcy. This picture is the proof of my hard work. It is a goal met. I am so proud of myself for making it to a year, especially when i didn’t think i would. This isn’t the first time this has happened, but I’m doing everything in my power to make it the last. But even if it isn’t, staying alive is the goal, not staying out of the hospital. If you need help, please, seek it. I know what it’s like to live with your mind telling you that the world would be better off without you, but it’s wrong. To everyone who has stayed despite not wanting to, i am so, so proud of you. To those who do not want to stay, I want you here. the world needs what you have to offer, and recovery is possible. To those who don’t understand, compassion goes a long way. Maybe i talk too much about this stuff. Maybe you think i want attention. Really, i want understanding and awareness. Suicide will only be stopped when mental illness is no longer seen as a character flaw.

Today, one of my favorite places in the world is closing. Club Cool, thank you for the countless memories, slushees and funny faces made after trying Beverly. Despite your sticky floors and strange smells, you were my favorite place to work in Epcot, and you and Melon Frosty will be dearly missed. ❤️🖤❤️🖤❤️🖤
